Parent and Volunteer Helpers’ Policy
At Cottenham Primary school we greatly value the support we receive from parents throughout the year. This support which may take the form of regular classroom help, support with trips or specific support for projects, is much appreciated by staff and children.
In response to our responsibility to ensure the safety and welfare of our children, we maintain a register of helpers who have offered to help in any capacity. We also require all volunteers in the school to undergo the following:

In response to our responsibility to ensure the safety and welfare of our children, we maintain a register of helpers who have offered to help in any capacity. We also require all volunteers in the school to undergo the following:
- Attend a Parent Helper Induction Session with the Headteacher, Mr Kilsby, at which you will be asked to sign an agreement regarding relevant guidelines and the need for confidentiality. The next session is on TBC.
- Undergo a DBS check and register with the DBS Update Service.
- Attend a Supporting Reading at CPS session (if you are looking to support children with their reading at the school).
