26.11.22  Panathlon Event


Congratulations to the CPS Panathlon team who competed superbly this week at the Panathlon games, held at IVC.  The children took part in a range of fun games including Kurling, Boccia, Bowling and Target throw.  They finished in third place and can be seen proudly wearing their medals around school. 

04.11.21  Year 6 Inter School Netball Competition

On a cold and windy night at Cottenham Village College, the newly formed Year 6 netball squads took part in their first competitive matches against other local primary schools. All of the children performed superbly and won several of their matches.  The next round resumes in March 2022.  Well done to everyone involved.



20.10.21  Year 6 Girls Football Tournament

Congratulations to the Year 6 girls who finished second in the recent local 7 aside tournament.  This was a closely fought event, with the girls being narrowly beaten in a penalty shoot out in the final.  Very exciting!

12.03.20  Year 5 6 QuickSticks Hockey Tournament

18 keen year 6 children travelled to Cambourne to compete in the SCSSP Quicksticks Hockey tournament. We fielded three teams and cam away with two second place finishes and a sixth place.  This was a fantastic achievement for the players. Well done. Some blustery team shots below.


00.03.20  Netball Tournament

Well done to the two CPS teams who competed in the netball tournament at IVC last night.  The weather was foul but this never dampened their spirits.  The A team finished in 3rd place and the B team in 10th.

This week CPS travelled away for a second fixture against Willingham Primary School.   There were so many keen footballers and some trying a competitive match for the first time.  The matches included a phenomenal 6-6 thriller! Take a look at some of the pics below.

12.02.20  Adapted Games 2020

Well done to the four children who represented the school at the 2020 Adapted Games, held at IVC. The children competed in the four events of Polybat, Kurling, Boccia and Table Cricket.  

05.02.20  New Age Kurling Event at Bassingbourn Village College

Well done to the 8 children who attended the recent New Age Kurling event.  The children competed in four different events with over 100 children form other local schools.  Full report here

06.11.19  Year 5 Girls' Football Friendly vs Willingham

Congratulations to the six year 5 girls who competed superbly against Willingham this week.  They were worthy 4-1 winners, with goals from Annabelle and Peggy. Pictures below.

17.10.19 Archery Event with Willingham Primary School

After a few weeks of using the new archery set, a group of keen archers in year 5 and 6 welcomed children from Willingham to a fun after school event.  The children represented the school superbly and enjoyed the opportunity to meet new children and show them how to use the equipment.  A special congratulation goes to Mitch, who won the one arrow final challenge!  Take a look at some pics below. 

17.10.19 Year 6 Girls Football EFSA Tournament at IVC

A huge congratulations to the girls who competed in the recent tournament.  They played superbly throughout and after losing to the eventual winners in the semi final, went on to finish 3rd overall.  A fantastic achievement considering this was the first time that they had played together as a team and for some, the first time in a competitive match.  Some team photos below.

15.10.19 Year 6 FA Football Tournament @ IVC

A keen team of ten Year 6 boys took part in a FA tournament this week at IVC, competing against 18 other schools.  We played five quick matches which saw us win, lose and draw throughout the morning.  The team played really well and were unlucky not to get more goals throughout the matches.  A fantastic team spirit was shown throughout the morning.  Take a look at some of the team photos below. 


10.10.19 Year 4 Outdoor and Adventurous Afternoon

A windy Thursday afternoon was the setting for CPS to host an inter school Sport Partnership event.   Children from many other local schools joined us to take part in a range of outdoor and adventurous activities, including map reading, team challenges and orienteering.  Take a look at some of our year 4 team in action below. 


09.10.19  Year 5 Football Friendly vs Willingham

A team of Year 5 footballers headed over to Willingham after school on Wednesday for a football friendly.  In a very close and entertaining match, with lots of chances for both sides, we came away 2- 1 victors.  This was the first competitive match for some of the children and we look forward to welcoming Willingham back for a rematch later in the term. 10.07.19 Olympic Inspiration for Year 3 4 Mini Olympics

The Year 3 and 4 children enjoyed a fantastic morning of sports this week, alongside 2012 Olympic bronze medal winning gymnast, Sam Oldham.   As you can see from the photos below, Sam brought his medal with him to share with the children and took part in many of the events throughout the morning. 

1/7/19  Year 5 visit to Grafham Water 

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, all year 5 pupils were transported to Grafham Water to take part in a range of exciting activities.  These included, climbing, raft building, driving a speedboat and the infamous 'Grafham Challenge'.  Take a look at some of the photos below....  

24:06:19 Year 4 Sport Festival at Wilberforce Road Track

On Tuesday 18th June, year 4 pupils attended a brilliant day of sport, along with many other local primary schools. This was hosted on the Cambridge University track at Wilberforce Rd, organised by the Sports Partnership.  Children took part in a range of sports and activities competing against themselves and their peers.  A highlight was the tug or war competition! 31.05.19  Inter School Netball Finals 2019

Following on from their success at the local finals, the netball team proudly took their place in the county finals held in Chatteris.  The quality of opponents was high and we came away with a fantastic second place, just behind St Albans School.  The team were proud to add another shield to their netball collection for 2018- 2019.  Photos below.

21.05.19 Korfball Finals at Milton Road Primary School

Beautiful sunshine set the scene for a brilliant Korfball tournament on Tuesday afternoon at Milton Road school.  CPS entered three teams and finished the event with impressive 3rd, 4th and 8th placings.  The popularity and enthusiasm for Korfball at CPS is down to the commitment of Zoe DeBarro, who runs a weekly club at school and supports the transition for players into the Cambridge Tigers Korfball setup. There were some excellent matches, goals and skills.  A final head to head match between two of the CPS teams was a fiercely fought battle.  Photos below. 

14.05.19  Year 3 4 Short Tennis Competition - Melbourn

On a beautifully sunny afternoon, four excited Year 4 pupils travelled over to Melbourn to represent the school in a short tennis competition against other Cambridgeshire primary schools.  This was the first time that all of the children had played a competitive tennis match and also the first time of representing the school at a sporting fixture.  Once the nerves had settled the children played superbly and progressed to a play off final for third and fourth place.  After some tough final matches, we came away with an amazing fourth place and big smiles all round.  Take a look at the pictures below.
