The government is providing funding of £150 million each year to provide new and substantial primary school sport funding. The funding is jointly provided by the Department for Education, Health and Culture and Media and Sport. It sees money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and P.E; each school will receive £8,000 plus an extra £5 per pupil each year. School Games Mark Awards
The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools will graded as either bronze, silver, or gold. Those schools which consistently achieve the gold award will also be offered the opportunity to upgrade this to platinum
In 2018 2019, we were awarded the Silver Award and will be aiming to achieve the Gold award next year.
