Parent and Volunteer Helpers’ Policy
At Cottenham Primary school we greatly value the support we receive from parents throughout the year. This support which may take the form of regular classroom help, support with trips or specific support for projects, is much appreciated by staff and children.
Of course, we also have a responsibility to protect the children, and in order to meet this we maintain a register of helpers who have offered to help in any capacity. Following National Safer Recruitment guidelines, we have put in place the following:
• All volunteers have to attend a short induction meeting with Mr Kilsby to discuss guidelines, behaviour management, Child Protection and confidentiality.
• All volunteers have to sign an agreement about the discussed guidelines and confidentiality.
• All volunteers have to have a DBS check.
Once again, we welcome parents and volunteers who are willing and able to help, and greatly value their contribution. However, I’m sure you appreciate that we have to make children’s safety paramount and that these measures are an important contribution to doing that.
