County Cross Country Championships

On Wednesday 23rd March, we took one girls team and two boys teams to St Neots to compete against over sixty other schools in the County Cross Country Championships. The race is a relay in teams of four with each runner completing 1200 metres of the undulating course.

The girls team (Ann/Kiera, Hannah, Ciara and Olive) were first to race. After an unlucky start with a flying baton, they courageously picked themselves up to run their hearts out, finishing 57th out of 102 teams.

Next it was the boys’ race with 108 teams taking part. The B team runners (Callum, Tom, Kieran and Spencer) all ran superbly well, powering round the course to finish very strongly in 37th position. This team were one of the fastest B teams in the competition.

The A team (Thomas, Ben, Finn and Josh) got off to a very impressive start indeed and continued to fly round the course at great speed. As the baton changed hands, the cheering and excitement grew and what a proud moment it was for us all when the talented team finished triumphantly in 3rd place!

To round off a magnificent evening, Thomas, Ben, Finn and Josh were each presented with an engraved trophy each to celebrate their achievement.

Let’s hope we can do it all again next year!
