21.05.19 Korfball Finals at Milton Road Primary School

Beautiful sunshine set the scene for a brilliant Korfball tournament on Tuesday afternoon at Milton Road school.  CPS entered three teams and finished the event with impressive 3rd, 4th and 8th placings.  The popularity and enthusiasm for Korfball at CPS is down to the commitment of Zoe DeBarro, who runs a weekly club at school and supports the transition for players into the Cambridge Tigers Korfball setup. There were some excellent matches, goals and skills.  A final head to head match between two of the CPS teams was a fiercely fought battle.  Photos below.

03.04.19  CPS Host Cross County Competition

The weather could not have been kinder to us on Wednesday afternoon as we hosted Willingham, Histon and Milton for a  fantastic Year 3 4 cross country competition.  Over 130 children ran with incredible enthusiasm, resulting in all four schools achieving a top three finish in at least one of the four categories.  Results and photos below.

03.04.19  CPS are Netball Champions!

What an absolutely incredible afternoon of netball! Cottenham B netball team are now the proud winners of the SCSSP  "B Team High Five Netball League Final" shield trophy.

All seven children played fantastically well and were a true credit to both themselves and Cottenham Primary School. They were unbeaten in the entire tournament, winning 3 and drawing 1 of their first round matches. Then, qualifying as winners of their division, they went on to win 2 further matches and draw one in the final round which meant they came out on top.

Not only did they play with team spirit, grit and determination, they were nominated as a team for their sportsmanship across the whole tournament and Caitlin Leach was also awarded a "Spirit of the Games" award for her contribution.

All credit should go to Lisa Beeson, Sue Bumpstead, Sarah Bye and Sarah Tyler for their dedication to improving the netball provision for our children and their generous volunteering to run the school netball club.

All in all, it was a brilliant afternoon in the sunshine at Impington Village College and we are all extremely proud of the children's teamwork and achievement - Go CPS!

13.03.19  Archery Competition vs Willingham Primary School

After school on Wednesday, ten keen archers from CPS and WPS went head to head in an indoor archery tournament.  With ten arrows each, the aim was to score more than your partner.  There were lots of bullseyes, many near misses and smiles all round.   At the end of the session, the scores were added up and CPS just stole the victory with 9 wins over 7 wins.  Since starting archery at school, some children have now joined archery clubs out of school and are improving their skills at a rapid pace!

06.02.19 Inter School Cross Country Relay Event

We hosted  our first ever Inter School Cross Country relay this week, involving 98 Year 5/6 children from Cottenham, Willingham, Histon and Milton schools.  The weather was kind to us and a fantastic race ensued on a carefully crafted route, taking in every nook and cranny of the CPS playing fields.   Smiles were plentiful and teams of 4 worked together to move their baton around the course as swiftly as possible.  PTCA hot chocolate and biscuits also proved to be a strong motivational force for the children!  Thanks to everyone involved to make this event a real success.  The first boy team home was our home grown team, pictured below with their trophy.  The first CPS girls team home came in a fantastic third place.  Full results attached.
